Consolea rubescens
"Road Kill Cactus"

From the Carribean and Florida, Consolea is a small genus of Opuntoid cacti with about 9 species. Consolea rubescens is a nearly spineless cactus that eventually becomes a tree 20 foot tall tree with a trunk 6 inches thick. Its flattened bumpy paddles give it the name "Road Kill Cactus" for obvious reasons. It even looks like it has tire tracks across it. Its smallish flowers are orange and appear in spring.
