A Praying Mantis astride a Crassula in Antoinettes Garden
Antoinette lives in California, U.S.A. and obviously loves both gardening and photography. Her gardens are a wonderfull mix of everything imaginable, including cacti and succulents. She posts frequently on the cactus and succulent forum at Davesgarden.com, sharing pictures of her wonderfull gardens. There her nickname is "Gourd".
She is also a kind and generous person. I sent her some Opuntia cuttings one time and without my asking she sent me something very special. One day she posted a bunch of pictures of cacti blooming in her garden and I remarked how beautifull a couple of her Parodias were. Especially a lovely pink flowered Parodia roseolutea and a purple P. ubelmannianus. She e-mailed me and said "I have some extras, would you like one of each?" I said sure! I thought she meant she had picked up some little $1.98 seedlings from Home Depot or some offsets she had rooted. When I got the package I was astounded to find two large mature plants. Not only that but they were the same plants she photographed! She actually dug the plants out of her garden and sent them to me! What a sweetheart :-) Enjoy the pictures of Antoinettes garden below.
